ENDSHEETS: Sundance, Hammermill, Domtar, Fraser
Passport and Magna Carta Parchment cover stocks: 65lb. and 50lb. bases;
many selections from which to choose. |

PRINTING: Offset lithography prepared in 16 page
signatures from 120, 133, 150, and 175 line-screen printing plates, and
produced on sheet fed presses. |

|
INKS: Pantone Matching System (PMS) selector
inks in 877 colors and black. Inks are Grade “A”, non-scratch
offset inks, with special metallic and fluorescent colors available. |

|
|
|
TYPE and PAGE PREPARATION: Pages are prepared
on Apple Macintosh computers importing text from Microsoft Word and twenty
other translatable applications. Pages are then designed using Adobe InDesign
II and Quark XPress software. Pages are imposed in PREPs software and RIPped
through our Rampage CTP system using Adobe Postscript and OpenType fonts.
Selections number over 400 faces with options of bold, italics, bold italics,
condensed and expanded. Point sizes can range from 5 pt. to 650 pt. |

PROFESSIONAL ART SERVICES: We employ a full-time
creative art department. These book specialists are graduates of fully accredited
art schools and they stay abreast of the current graphic trends. They know
how to translate and transfer ideas to the printed page, and are available
to help design covers, endsheets or dividers as well as develop thematic
patterns. |

|
|
|
|
CONSULTATION: A qualified and experienced representative
works with you from “concept to completion” in an effort to
facilitate your task and implement your work. Each representative not only
works with you on decision-making and instruction, but also is personally
responsible for working with our behind-the-scenes personnel to ensure production
of your desired result. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
LAYOUT: Supplies for layouts, including graphed
layout sheets, instructions, and sketch pads are all provided by Cooke Publishing
Company. We supply templates and digital files for all customers preparing
their pages on computers. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
GRAPHICS: Normal use of black backgrounds, grey
screens, overprinting, drop-out printing, ghosting, rules or other techniques
are implemented per instructions or design and included in our comprehensive
pricing. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
PHOTOGRAPHS and CUSTOMER ART: Each photograph
to be reproduced is cropped, enlarged, reduced or mounted per instructions.
They are individually scanned, calibrated and adjusted on our Heidelberg,
Epson and HP devices. Reproduction percents range from 10 percent to 600
percent, with options of chain or square dot, halftone, line, ghost or special
screen imaging. |

|
|
|
|
PROOFS: Laser proofs of every page, printed endsheets,
and printed covers are provided in full size, facing-page spreads. These
proofs provide an opportunity to edit and correct. Color proofs are provided
for any pages using second or natural color photos or decorations; they
display all text and photographs in position, with an opportunity to alter
before the preparation of plates. Die-making proofs are provided for all
stamped and embossed covers. |

|
|
|
|
PRICING: Our “budget awareness” policy
guarantees keeping within the budget set up by each client. Price additions
or savings caused by changes in original specifications are called to the
attention of the responsible party as the book progresses so that the budget
will be maintained or adjusted. Unknown extra charges and hidden costs on
the bill are not part of our way of doing business. |

|
|
|
SCHEDULING and DELIVERY: A guaranteed delivery
date will be scheduled based on mutually accepted deadlines. Missed deadlines
will no longer allow us to guarantee the delivery date, however we continue
to work toward that goal. Adequate time is anticipated for production and
proofreading. We do not apply any late fees or penalties for missed
deadlines. |

|
|
|
COVER OPTIONS: Additional colors may be applied;
binding fabrics are available in different colors, grades and finishes;
names can be stamped; padding; dust jackets; covers can be printed and film-laminated,
embossed, grained, with the application of metallay inlay foil on multi-level
seals and art. Holographic foils and special pigments are also available. |

|
|
|
|
PRINTING OPTIONS: Endsheets or text stocks can
be printed with additional colors, including natural color photography and
special effect photographs. Natural color input is laser-scanned to produce
4/color separation printing plates. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
GRAPHIC OPTIONS: Special computer prepared art
types, borders and screen backgrounds are available. Close register of standard
graphics and whole-section uses of screens are optional. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
BINDING OPTIONS: Gatefolds (fold-outs), short-side
binding, tip-ins, cover boxes and shrink-wrapping are available and priced
on quantity. Saddle-stitching (staple-bound), GBC (plastic) finishing, paper
cover, sewn and perfect binding can be provided. |
